A.M.O. stands for “I love” in Portuguese, and it also stands for the initials of its creator and founder, Margaret Orlowski. Margaret learned to home-brew in Canada, and continued hobby brewing after moving to Lisbon.

They are Catarina and David, winemakers and owners of Adega Belém Urban Winery. They both love wine and they both love Lisbon. That’s why they have built their winery in a former car repair shop in the heart of Lisbon’s urban neighborhood of Belém. The grapes come from small vineyards nearby.

Adega Rama is a new project in Bairrada, with its first vinification in 2011 and the beginning of its commercial activity in July 2012. It arises from the joint motivation of Jorge Rama and the winemaker António Selas, which led the Rama family to take the construction initiative of the winery in strong line with wine tourism.

Tradition, Exclusivity, and Excellence at Azenhas do Mar, Colares Founded in 1944 by António Bernardino da Silva Júnior, Adega Beira Mar carries forward a long-standing family tradition in the trade and aging of Colares wines.

For over 100 years, the Almeida Garrett family has been nurturing Chardonnay vines and producing award-winning, complex yet elegant varietal white wines. In addition to local red varieties, such as Tinta Roriz and Touriga Nacional, Chardonnay is one of the most prestigious grape varieties, with the added value of growing in Beira Interior, with its special soils, towering altitudes and peak temperatures.

Fausto J. Montenegro Vieira Cardoso inherited and purchased three parcels of land in the Douro valley planted with vines and olive trees. After his studies in agronomy in the University of Lisbon (ISA) and many years abroad, where he have followed closely and with great interest the economy of the vine and wine in Europe and around the world, he decided to take action to enhance the value the wine and olive oil production from these parcels, in a difficult location with neither well-known wines nor a family wine-making tradition (it had been lost with the advent of cooperative wineries).

António Madeira is today one of the most authentic and inspiring names in the Dão. Portuguese-descended, he grew up in Paris, yet always maintained a strong connection to his family roots in the Serra da Estrela region. It was precisely this bond that led him, from 2010 onwards, to return to Dão with the ambition of restoring old vineyards and revealing the deep identity of this singular territory.

The project began when a wine barrel that had been left aside in a cellar in Palmela was discovered. That barrel brought together three Master’s students from ISA in Viticulture and Oenology, who became friends and shared the ambition of creating wines focused on science and environmental sustainability. The wine had been produced six months earlier during an internship, and its discovery became the catalyst for the beginning of this journey.

Arribas Wine Company was founded in 2017, in Bemposta, Mogadouro. They aim to produce authentic wines based on regional varieties, old vineyards, traditional techniques, and a degree of innovation. Thus, strive to farm their vineyards as sustainably and respectfully as possible and make their wines in a minimalistic way.

The Champagne House of Ayala was founded in 1860 in the village of Aÿ by Edmond de Ayala, a man of visionary spirit, curiosity, and boldness. From its inception, the House has stood out for its constant pursuit of excellence and its desire to go further, maintaining a balance between tradition and innovation.

The Azores Wine Company was founded on April 3rd, 2014, by the partners António Maçanita, Filipe Rocha and Insula Vinus, Lda. The story of three people profoundly connected to the Azores who crossed paths by the end of the first decade of the 21st century, brought together by a passion to which they dedicate a significant part of their lives: wine and gastronomy. Amongst the several projects they are involved in, we find wine production in Pico, the recovery of an endangered grape variety, as well as the promotion of the Azorean wine and gastronomy.

Baías e Enseadas is an independent, small-scale wine project created by Daniel Afonso, driven by the desire to produce wines with a clear and distinctive identity. With an artisanal and sustainable approach, the project is deeply rooted in the Atlantic territory of Colares/Sintra, where wines are shaped by freshness, minerality and a strong sense of place.

Beta Wines began with two young winemakers and a clear idea of what they wanted to do in Bairrada. Pedro Miguel and Igor Lima grew up here, learned their craft elsewhere, and chose to come back — not out of nostalgia, but conviction.

The family project was born in 2009 with the purchase of the Quinta, which is located 600 meters above sea level and a few meters from the source of the Caia River. It has 7.8 hectares of total area, 4.5 hectares of vineyards, olive groves, 2 vegetable gardens, all kinds of native fruit trees, garden, and forest. They recover the property (abandoned since 2002) and implemented the traditional agricultural system. A system in which Man lives from Nature and with Nature, in subsistence agriculture, poor in resources but integrated into the landscape and in the balance of the ecosystem.

I believe that the region of Dão is perfect for this type of wine, always thinking about the potential of aging, of whites and reds made by Eng. Cardoso de Vilhena in the Dão study center, a world reference, at the level of the best nectars of our world, very close to heaven … yes that’s what I want to do!”

Casa da Carvalha is located in the municipality of Arganil, built about 200 years ago, and its vineyards are located in the southernmost part of the Dão region.

Casa de Cello is a family business dedicated to winemaking in their estates for four generations.

The natural approach to wine production allows enhancing the terroir getting the maxim elegance and purity in the final product. The wines are handcrafted and look for personality, elegance and structure.

In Ponte de Lima, in the heart of the Lima Valley, the birthplace of the Loureiro grape variety, Casa de Nabais is a historic Minho estate where wine is born from an understanding of the land, careful observation of the vineyard and meticulous small-scale production.

The history of Casa de Vilacetinho is somewhat intertwined with the history of the Vinhos Verdes. Located in Alpendurada, part of Marco de Canavezes, it’s one of the oldest brands of the region, adding important milestones to the history of Portuguese wines.

Casa do JOA will tell the story of Parada, its people and traditions. This is the only way to appreciate the intensity of the aromas of the Alto do Joa wine.
