It displays a deep ruby colour with garnet reflections on the rim, indicating complexity and ageing potential. Dominant notes of fruit, such as cherry, strawberry, and plum, are complemented by subtle hints of sweet spices like cinnamon, alongside touches of tobacco, leather, and delicate traces of aromatic herbs. Founded in 1944 by António Bernardino da Silva Júnior, Adega Beira Mar inherits a long-standing family tradition in the trade and ageing of wines from the Colares region. Its roots trace back to 1898, when the family established its first wine business in Azenhas do Mar, thus beginning a legacy that spans generations and borders, with early exports to Brazil, and later to Europe and the United States.

Located in one of the most distinctive wine regions in the world, Adegas Beira Mar and Caves Visconde de Salreu are devoted to the production and ageing of DOC Colares and Lisboa Regional wines, known for their authenticity and remarkable organoleptic character. The Colares terroir is defined by its sandy soils, which allowed the vines to survive the phylloxera plague of the 19th century. Here, the Ramisco (red) and Malvasia de Colares (white) grape varieties are planted directly into the sand until they reach the underlying clay, resulting in wines of unique character and exceptional longevity.

DOC wine production at Adegas Beira Mar is extremely limited — around 1,400 bottles per year — ensuring true exclusivity for those who appreciate wines with history and identity.

Today, under the management of António Bernardino Paulo da Silva, grandson of the founder, Adegas Beira Mar and Caves Visconde de Salreu remain committed to excellence, authenticity, and the preservation of Portugal’s wine heritage. The project stands out not only for the quality of its wines, but also for its investment potential, thanks to limited production, origin certification, and a terroir that is truly one of a kind.

The wines of António Bernardino Paulo da Silva are, above all, an invitation to discover rare and remarkable expressions that carry forward the story of a singular region, a dedicated family, and a timeless passion for the wines of Colares.
