Since 1910, the Arrochela e Camizão family has been producing Vinho Verde in the sub-region of Amarante and Sousa.

João Camizão is the 4th generation of a family from Porto and with his studies in Telecommunications Engineering completed, João began a career in telecommunications. In 2007, he worked in India for two and a half years.

And it was in India that he realised that the family’s winemaking history needed to be followed, the legacy had to be continued. After this time, João returned inspired to create Sem Igual with the unconditional support of his family. His first harvest of Sem Igual was in 2012.

The great differentiation and challenge here was to create a ‘Sem Igual’ vinho verde that is not a traditional style made with local grapes, but rather a white, off-gas, full-bodied, extremely dry wine that needs time in the bottle. It has a high degree of acidity and a long, persistent finish.
